Moving From Employee to Home Business Profession - Considerations

Yes, I made the move. I was a corporate professional on the outside but inside my body, mind and spirit was an entrepreneur dying to come out. I had it enough. After all I was suppressing how I felt for a long time. I really felt as if I was being pulled down by my ankles while trying to climb the corporate ladder. So, I made a move.

Making the decision was just one part of the equation. The second more difficult part was choosing which way to turn. Aside from making the best choice for myself I, of course, had to know what I wanted. Actually that was clear for some time. I wanted what many others want and I've finally obtained... wealth and freedom.

I'm going to put the choices aside and focus instead on the what I see as a few of the critical factors involved in making the move to becoming a home business professional. The key factors I'd like to touch upon are financial, mental, and emotional. Below are just a few key points that may prepare you if you are looking to make a change. Or, even if you have already made the move, you may be struggling in your business because you've avoided focusing on one or more of these areas.

Here are a few examples of the key areas that required attention. Firstly, financial. It is critical that you be prepared for success in order to achieve and accept it. Accepting is just as important as any other element. Remember this isn't a paycheck it is is payday. Every day counts. It's a new ballgame.

Ask yourself a few questions: How long do you have for the money to come in? Are you committed to success? Truly committed? When times get tight will you find a way or will you surrender? Lack of funds can drive you back to a job. This may be before you are ready and possibly place you into a situation you do not desire. These factors and more require care and attention on the selection of the appropriate means for your new career.

Second comes emotional factors. Are you psychologically prepared to be the master of your own financial destiny? There is no longer a 'boss'. Many people in sales come from a commission mentality and understand that no work equals no pay but others are not conditioned psychologically for this reality. Working at home requires self discipline and a high degree of it. A second element in the emotional factor is support. You may be used to the comforts of employment. A boss that requires you there, staff that expect you there, and friends that are counting on you. There's also a society that relates to the 9-5.

With a job there is consistency imposed from outside disciplines that assist you. You receive – optimally – a steady and consistent salary. You may have good days or bad days. Maybe even bad weeks. Does that influence your 'salary'? More likely then not - NO. But, when you are the master of your own business your consistent mental health is critical to your daily success. That requires some serious self discipline.

A third factor is mental. Mental discipline is key. You are the wellspring of your own success. Mental toughness and mental focus are vital to you making money. You need to be at the top of your game. Not using your mind can result in set backs. Rejection can upset your balance. Staying sharp you keep the flow going and things stay right on track. Your mind is your friend and enemy.

Old habits that no longer suit you must be dropped. Techniques must be found to assist in that process. Developing new, positive and uplifting habits are crucial.

These are just a couple of the items to pay attention to as you free yourself to explore a new lifestyle - definitely one of fulfillment and challenge. Self discipline and desire will be your light through the path to success. Use them along your journey and all will be illuminated.
