Clean Your TV With the Garden Hose
Lewisville, Tex. (PRWEB) June 14, 2007 -- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA, forecasts a higher-than-average hurricane season for the United States this year. That means trouble not only for coastal regions, but vast areas that get blasted as the storms move inland.
With predictions of heavier than normal rainfall dumped on top of an unusually wet spring season in North Texas, are people with outdoor televisions worried? Not much.
Outdoor television sets aren't new, but they have hit a high mark with the arrival of a new generation of sets that rival the best indoor ones for picture quality and features.
One of the most advanced models just became available in May. The SunBrite 4600HD is a 46-inch liquid crystal display, HD-ready set that offers extremely wide angle viewing, high resolution images and extreme resistance to the elements.
Home entertainment expert Keith Prather says outdoor TVs have become more popular as quality has increased. "There's very little difference between the best indoor and outdoor TVs now," Prather said, "except you wouldn't want to hose down your indoor set they way you can the outdoor models."
Prather is president of Doctor Sound Home Theater, Inc., based in Lewisville, Texas, near Dallas. He says outdoor sets are selling fast in North Texas because people can watch from their swimming pools in the heat of summer, and enjoy them at cookouts during the cool evenings of spring and fall.
"These televisions are extremely rugged," Prather said. "They feature water-tight enclosures, including where cables connect, which keeps out rain, dirt, dust - and bugs. You literally can blast them with a garden hose. They even have water-resistant remote controls. And they produce a high-quality picture in bright sunlight, even when viewed from wide angles."
The SunBrite 4600HD can be viewed in temperature extremes from -24 to +122 degrees Fahrenheit and can withstand heat up to 140 degrees. A number of installation options are available, including brackets and poles for additional flexibility and security.
Prather advises consumers to compare products, looking for the performance and features most important to them.
