Six Tips For Enjoying Your Kids While Working From Home
A Parent Coach can help you reduce stress at home. Here are some tried and true ideas that have worked for parents who have had parent coaching with Susan. These tips are especially designed for working at home parents with school age children. Susan has worked from home for the past 10 years while her children were between the ages of 6 and 18. Parent Coach Tip #1 Make a schedule and stick to it. Whether you work days, afternoons or evenings let your family know your hours. You cannot be successful at work or parenting if you are always working. You might hang your schedule in the kitchen or on the door to your office. My kids knew I was working when my office door was closed. Parent Coach Tip #2 At the end of your workday, turn off your computer, clean your desk and make a to do list for tomorrow. These small steps help you to walk away and enjoy time with your family. Parent Coach Tip #3 If your office also doubles as family space, create boundaries for your files and your things. If others are going to use your ?work? computer for homework and surfing, teach them to create folders so everyone?s documents have a place to be stored. Parent Coach Tip #4 Install a separate phone line dedicated solely to your business. This will keep unwanted interruptions from happening and a clear line of communication open for you and your business. Parent Coach Tip #5 Enlist your school age children to help with office tasks that they can handle. When my daughter was 9 she stuffed and stamped envelopes for me. When my son was 17 he created a mailing list database for my business. Be sure and compensate the kids and they will want to help and also learn how important your work is to all your lives. Parent Coach Tip #6 If possible, create other work spaces in your office, where your children can do homework and projects while you catch up on your own work. This may actually give you additional time that you had not previously taken advantage of.
